Nécrologie de Joan Strutt (nee MacGarvie)

Joan Katherine died peacefully, in Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the age of 84.  Beloved wife of Clare Strutt for 53 years.  Loving mother of Herb (Isabelle Zhao), Kirk (Marie-Paule Montreuil), both of Ottawa, and Cathy (Mike Catanese), of Nashville, TN.  Cherished Grandma of Zakary.  Dear sister of Dorothy (John Yule), Joyce (late Roger Belliveau), and predeceased by Eileen (Albert Sparrow) and Jimmy.

Joan worked as a school teacher before leaving the education field to raise her three children.  She would return to education as a math tutor and part time teacher in adult education.  Her love of mathematics was passed to her children who all pursued engineering degrees.  Joan loved working in her garden, maintaining her Victorian home, and gathering with her children and grandson whenever possible.

Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.  A funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.  All are invited to join us for a reception following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Jump Math Education Charity would be appreciated.
