Nécrologie de Wallace "Wally" Bretzlaff

Wallace Roderick Bretzlaff “Wally” of Ladysmith Quebec passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023.

Born July 25^th 1937 to Verner and Marie Bretzlaff. Adoring husband of Gerda Erfle Bretzlaff and proud father of Jeffery (Irene) and Gregory (Nicole), grandfather of Megane and Leeza (Olivia) and great grandfather of Mia, Zoey, Max and Eva.  He will be missed by his sister Lynn (Jim) and his extended family. Predeceased by his brother Maynard and his sister Ola (Chris) and Helma (Colin).

Wally served in the Canadian Military from age 18 to 22 in North Bay, Ontario where he learned to fly.  He kept his flying licence active for many years.  After his short stint in the military he came home and started to work as an electrician at Hilton Mine in Bristol and then moved to Consolidated Bathurst in Portage.  Throughout his career and right up till March 30^th he worked at the Bretzlaff Store where he had many tasks but his favorite was pumping gas.

Wally’s hobbies were fishing; cross country skiing, downhill skiing and bicycling he kept very active. Wally never turned down a party, loved to dance and always had a smile with a positive attitude. He will be missed. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Shawville Hospital for their excellent care.

Friends may call at the Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Wednesday, April 5^th  2023 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, April 6^th in St John’s Lutheran Church, Ladysmith, Quebec at 1 p.m.
