Nécrologie de Beverley Dubeau (nee Blanchfield)

With deep regret and sadness we mourn the passing of a loving and devoted wife and mother, a wonderful sister and friend. Beverley Dubeau (nee Blanchfield) passed away on March 2, 2023 at age 82, peacefully and surrounded by family following her courageous battle with cancer.

She is forever loved by her husband Ray, her children Colin (Cynthia), Kara (Adam).  She will be sadly missed by her brothers Brian (Lyn Ryan), Mark (Vicki Lavell) and sister Brenda (Robert Pilon), her brother-in-law Larry Dubeau (Eileen Krutz) and sister-in-law Lorraine Dubeau.  Fondly remembered by her nieces Stacey (Yves Simard), Tania (Peter Beattie) and nephew Scott Dubeau as well as her many friends and former colleagues.  Bev joins her family in heaven:  parents Willard and Kathleen Blanchfield, her sister Karen and brother Barry, and her sisters-in-law Fran (Brian) and Lisa (Mark).

She began her working life in the Otter Lake post office alongside her mother Kathleen, the postmistress.  Later she worked as an assistant to Ray Johnston, the Pontiac member of provincial parliament and minister of finance and enjoyed a close relationship with Ray and the Johnston family.  Fondly remembered by her colleagues at the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), (formerly known as  Communication Branch National Research Council (CBNRC)),  where she worked from 1965, taking a break from 1968 to 1982 to devote herself to her children, then returning to the work she loved until her retirement in 1997.  Bev began as a staffing clerk before moving on to become a staffing officer and finally head of the staffing unit until her retirement in 1997.  Bev’s work was a source of pride and brought her great joy, she was devoted to her career and thoroughly enjoyed her work.  She was admired and respected by her many colleagues and friends.

Bev’s kind heart and generous spirit touched all those fortunate enough to know her.  She was an active volunteer at St. Bernard’s parish and school, and active in St. Charles Borromeo parish and in the community of Otter Lake, where she was an integral part of the dedication to Ray Johnston at the Otter Lake Recreation Association.  We are eternally grateful to all the family and friends who supported and loved her throughout her life.  We also offer sincere and endless gratitude to the staff at Elizabeth Bruyère palliative care unit who provided tender and excellent care for her in the last months of her life.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 14th 2023 in St.Charles Borromeo Parish, Otter Lake, Quebec at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations to Elisabeth Bruyère would be appreciated.
