Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Shawville Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Helen was born June 6, 1927 in Fort Coulonge, Quebec, the third child of James and Mary Jane Kelly Davis.  Helen was the beloved wife of the late Robert Towell who passed away in 1999.  A cherished mother of Dr. Samuel Towell (Patricia), Sandra Towell Worden (late Elmer Worden) and Angela Towell.  Grandmother of Trisha (Jaime), Ashley (Cheryl), Krista (Marcus)and Kelsea Towell, Robert (Leah) and Richard (Claire) Worden.  Great grandmother of Abeni, Jace, Nora and Rory Worden and Lyla Towell.  Helen will be missed by her sister Teresa La Croix (late Paul), brothers John (Micheline) and Philip (Hugette) Davis, sister-in-law Evangeline Towell Mac Donald and many nieces and nephews.  Helen was predeceased by two brothers, Patrick and Thomas Davis.  Helen worked in her younger years at W.A. Hodgins Store for ten years.  She was also known for Helen’s Fur Salon in Shawville for over 30 years.  She enjoyed curling in her younger years.  She was active in the Rebekah’s and was the posted D.D.S. of Rebekah’s Assembly of Quebec, past president of the Pontiac Community Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Pontiac Hospital Board for 10 years.  She was active in the community and church activities.  In later years, she enjoyed traveling to Renfrew to play bingo.  Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre St, Shawville on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Shawville on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.  The family invite all to join them for a reception at St. Paul’s Hall following the burial.    Donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Church or the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation.
