Peacefully at home, in Ottawa, with his family by his side, on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the age of 86. Loving husband of Genevieve (nee Wickens) of more than 60 years and cherished father of Brenda Schoenermarck (Ralf), of Ottawa. He was a proud and loving grandfather to two grandsons, Jackson (Kait) and Ross. He is also survived by his sisters Lois Lassenba (Ronald) of Ottawa and nephews, Jeffrey Lassenba (Valerie) and Mark Lassenba (Kristi) and niece Lori McFarlane (Steve); (predeceased by niece Lynn Lassenba) and Leona Fierobin (Maynard Tanner) of Bryson, Quebec. He is predeceased by his parents Mano and Minna Firobin of Ladysmith, Quebec and brother Ahart Firobin (Margaret), also of Ladysmith, Quebec. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law and many sisters-in-law: Dorval Wickens (Elda), Hawley Wickens (Jeannine), Carolyn Campbell, Elaine Constable (Russell), Harriet Wickens, Linda Welch (Terry), Connie Wickens-Danis (Glen Danis), Dr. Kathy Wickens (Rolly Ashman), Darwin Wickens (Holly), Dorothy Whitelock (Allan). Predeceased by sister-in-law, Dianne French (Cliff). Born in the township of Thorne, outside of Ladysmith, Quebec, Clifford grew up on the family farm, moving to Ottawa to work, after marrying Genevieve, July 30. 1960. He worked at Agriculture Canada for over 30 years (also enjoying over 30 years of retirement). In addition, he ran a successful door-to-door sales business: Direct Household Sales (originally selling for Watkins Products and Electrolux before branching out with additional companies). Clifford had a great love of travel and the outdoors, enjoying untouched wilderness areas in northern Canada, in particular. He was known to travel frequently in his motorhome with wife, Genevieve and daughter, Brenda, also enjoying frequent fishing and hunting trips with family and friends. Clifford will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. A Funeral Service for immediate family will be held in the coming days at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ladysmith, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Evangelical Church, Ottawa, or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ladysmith or The Canadian Cancer Society.
